Season ticket holders were surprised when the Capitals traded away team captain Chris Clark and Milan Jurcina at the end of the year last year. They were made a little happier when the franchise signed former Flyer Mike Knuble to a 2-yr $5.6 million contract. The team also signed former Dallas Star Brandan Morrison to a 1-year deal and Jake Hauswirth to a 3-year undisclosed contract.
The team also resigned a number of players to include Alexander Semin (1-yr $6 million) and Shaone Morrisonn (1-yr $1.975 million).
The team is currently sitting in 1st place in the NHL Eastern Conference with a 41-12-7 record.
